Billie Joe Armstrong
Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong had a very public meltdown last month at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.
On being informed the band had one minute left to wrap up its performance, the 40 year-old embarked on an extraordinary expletive-ridden rant which sounds like a world record attempt for most uses of the f-word.
In footage of the incident, Armstrong can be seen screaming, "Let me tell you something. I've been around since f****ing 1988! And you're gonna give me one f****ing minute? You gotta be f****ing kidding me! What the f**k? I'm not f****ing Justin Bieber, you mother***ers!" before attempting to smash his guitar up on the stage.
It seems like it wasn't mere rock star posturing either. Armstrong is now said to be "seeking treatment for substance abuse", and has checked into rehab.
In an official statement, the band apologised "to those we offended", adding, "We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances."
Green Day cancelled a concert in Italy earlier this month after Armstrong was admitted to hospital for what was then described as "severe dehydration".
