It's been folded into the mainstream in recent years and watered down into "pop-punk," but punk music felt like a real challenge to establishment authority back in 1970s Britain. Which is possibly why there was such uproar over Today show presenter Bill Grundy's TV interview with The Sex Pistols back in December 1976. Brought in as a last-minute replacement for Queen, the God Save the Queen rockers proceeded to utter naughty words during the ramshackle appearance, with guitarist Steve Jones calling Grundy a "dirty f***er." The interview further bolstered the Pistols' reputations as bad boys and earned Grundy a two-week suspension.
