Today marks fifty years since everyone's favourite web-slingng superhero swung into our lives. The first appearance of Stan Lee's Spider-Man in a Marvel comic came on 10 August, 1962 and saw Peter Parker, an unassuming teenager, gain spider-like powers after being bitten by a radioactive arachnid. Since then, Spidey has had his own movies and TV shows and has become one of the most bankable superheroes on the planet.
