Yes, anyone-who-fancies-him, that is Twilight star Taylor Lautner sporting an entirely unconvincing caveman look for BBC Three comedy, Cuckoo. And no, he’s not sending up that bit in Team America: World Police where puppet Gary Johnston infiltrates a terrorist group in Egypt wearing a stupid disguise (great make-up job, BBC!).

The actor - known to Twi-hards for his role as Jacob Black in the hit movie series – is snapped during his introductory scene in the episode airing on Thursday 7 August. And what an entrance! He literally crashes into the lives of the unsuspecting English family.

The second series is set two years after title character Cuckoo (originally portrayed by fellow American Andy Samberg) disappeared while researching a book in the Himalayas. He left behind his British wife Rachel (Tamla Kari) to forge a new life without him.

Her parents Ken (The Inbetweeners’ Greg Davies) and Lorna (Helen Baxendale – Emily from Friends) and brother Dylan (Outnumbered’s Tyger Drew-Honey) are getting their lives back to normal when Taylor's airheaded character Dales shows up in Lichfield...

Dales is just as cuckoo as Cuckoo, but he’s obviously not Cuckoo. That appears to be the only joke in this middling family sitcom which is short on genuine laughs and distinguished only by its ability to land American leads.

If that unintentionally hilarious hairy make-up demonstrates anything, it’s that Taylor Lautner is, at least, obviously game for a laugh. We showcase more comedy make-up transformations including Brendan O'Carroll in Mrs Brown’s Boys.
